Internal Candidate Transfer Policy

 

The purpose of this policy is to provide employees the opportunity to apply for open positions of which they may qualify to promote career growth opportunities. It is also the objective of Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana to promote each employee into a position that most effectively utilizes the employee's skills consistent with the overall agency requirements. If candidates are interested in transferring to another department and/or position, they must apply for the position on https://www.voasela.org/careers.

Employees interested in applying for an open position can contact Human Resources or the hiring manager if additional job information is needed.  

 

The Internal Candidate Transfer Guidelines are as follows:

 

  1. Internal candidate interested in the vacant position should inform their direct supervisor of their interest in the announced position, complete an online application, and complete the Internal Transfer form. This form should be submitted to Human Resources. 

 

  1. Internal candidates who have been in their current position for at least six (6) months, which is strongly preferred,  and meet the minimum job requirements are phone screened by Human Resources. Employees who do not meet the minimum qualifications will be notified by the Applicant Tracking System. *Depending upon the role, COVID-19 vaccination, BOP background screen and drug screen may be mandatory for the program and position.

 

  1. If successful, the internal candidate will move to the next step in the process, which is an interview with the Hiring Manager. 

 

  1. When an internal candidate is selected for a vacant position, the candidate’s current supervisor will be notified of the selection and next steps. The transfer period should not exceed two weeks. If the internal candidate is not selected for the position, the internal candidate will be notified by the Applicant Tracking System. 

 

  1. Human Resources will initiate the CHANGE EAR for transfers only. A meeting is scheduled with the selected employee, the new supervisor is present when the offer letter is signed and a program onboarding plan will be given to the internal candidate. A congratulatory photo is taken with the selected employee holding their offer letter envelope and new supervisor. All documents are saved in the employee’s file. Selected employee will begin a new six-month introductory period, scheduled for a six-month introductory review and 30/60/90 Day Check In Interviews. 

 

*Human Resource will ensure transferee has offer letter, benefit information and any other information pertinent to their new role.
